Alexandru Belc was born in 1980 in Romania. He graduated from the Bucharest Film School in 2007 and got an MA in political sciences in 2012. During his studies, he made several short films and documentaries. He then worked as an assistant director for Corneliu Porumboiu and Cristian Mungiu. He worked as a script supervisor on Cristian Mungiu’s “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 1 Day“ (Palme d’Or in 2007). His first feature documentary “March 8th” about women in a workplace screened at numerous international festivals in 2013. His second feature documentary “Cinema My Love”, a portrait of a Romanian art-house exhibitor, was distributed by Outplay Films in France and released in theatres in May 2017. “Metronom”, his first fiction film, was in Un Certain Regard, the Official Selection’s section at the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
