The opening film of the "Eurasia" Festival was the drama "The Hanging Gardens" by Ahmed Yassin Aldaradji. Its action takes place at a Baghdad landfill site, ironically called the Hanging Gardens. We get to know the story of two brothers orphaned because of the American invasion on Iraq - twelve-year-old Assad and his older brother Taha who takes care of him. It turns out that in the heaps of garbage you can find everything from pornographic magazines left by American soldiers to the bodies of newborns and women.
