Meet Iman, a 15-year-old from Bosnia who is experiencing the drama of growing up in a society full of gossip and judgment. When a rumor surfaced in a school game of "truth or dare" that Iman was the first in her class to experience sexual initiation with the older Damir, her life takes an unexpected turn. Although initially confused, Iman confirms the rumors, learning that they are from Damir, a boy she is interested in. She soon discovers the disastrous consequences of her lie.
The plot of the film "Excursion" delves into the consequences of the publicity surrounding Iman's alleged experiences, calling into question her participation in the titular school trip. The girl's situation becomes even more complicated when, in an attempt to save face, she invents more details about her fictitious intimate relationship.
Director Una Gunjak, originally from Sarajevo and working in international co-production, sensitively captures the struggles of a young protagonist on screen, exploring themes of adolescence, identity and the impact of social expectations on the individual lives of young people. The film, her feature debut, drawing attention to universal issues facing young people, is a joint production of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Qatar, Norway and Serbia.
Join us at Kinoteka and see how Iman struggles with her own emotions and decisions that may affect her life and future.
