Have you ever dreamed of traveling on the open sea? "To the North", directed by Mihai Mincan, will take you aboard a transatlantic ship, where moral dilemmas are as unpredictable as the waves of the endless ocean. The film, set in the mid-90s, tells the story of Joel, a religious Filipino sailor who discovers a hidden passenger, Dumitru from Romania. Faced with a mortal threat to Dumitru, Joel decides to save him, which initiates a dangerous game with Taiwanese officers.
In this intense story at sea, every decision has its consequences, and loyalty and faith are put to the test. "Into the North" is a co-production of five countries: Romania, Greece, the Czech Republic, France and Bulgaria, which won the hearts of jurors at many festivals, receiving Gopo Awards for best cinematography, debut and hope of cinema, among others. This is a fascinating look at the moral choices we have to make and their impact on our lives.
The screening at the Eurasia Festival will be the Polish premiere of the film.
The film will be shown in the original language version with subtitles in Polish and English.
