Sauda and Dita live in contemporary Macedonia. The women constitute a happy family along with their daughters they bring up together. They also build a vibrant community with Romas banished from their own families because of being queer. However, shades of grey creep into the colourful commune. When Sauda dies of cancer, everyone needs to find their place in the new reality. Dita faces the toughest challenge, forced to provide for her family and fight to keep her daughters. Is faking a marriage with a man the only way to do that? In a realistic style, Goran Stolevski looks at the boundaries of family relations and asks a universal question: what really constitutes a family – blood or love? This brilliantly told story gives plenty of food for thought but also guarantees a wild rollercoaster ride thanks to colourful characters having different expectations about life.
